The Department is responsible for the operation, maintenance and administration of the town water system and sanitary sewer collection system. Our water comes from ground water sources consisting of 4 wells that are installed in the Mattapoisett River Valley.
Sewerage is pumped to the Town of Fairhaven waste water treatment plant for treatment and disposal.
Water bills are sent out semi-annually (spring and fall) by the Department's staff and are collected by the Town's Treasurer/Collector at the Town Hall.
Water and sewer connection permits are issued from our office at 19 County Road.
Water Main Flushing: Conducted in the Spring and Fall each year. Notices are made in local papers and on local Cable TV, and under "Town News." on thw Town Website.
